A WALK TO REMEMBER

TITLE: A WALK TO REMEMBER
AUTHOR: NICHOLAS SPARKS
SERIES: STANDALONE
RATING: ★★★

SUMMARY:

Every April, when the wind blows from the sea and mingles with the scent of lilacs, Landon Carter remembers his last year at Beaufort High. It was 1958, and Landon had already dated a girl or two. He even swore that he had once been in love. Certainly the last person in town he thought he'd fall for was Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister.

A quiet girl who always carried a Bible with her schoolbooks, Jamie seemed content living in a world apart from the other teens. She took care of her widowed father, rescued hurt animals, and helped out at the local orphanage. No boy had ever asked her out. Landon would never have dreamed of it.

Then a twist of fate made Jamie his partner for the homecoming dance, and Landon Carter's life would never be the same. Being with Jamie would show him the depths of the human heart and lead him to a decision so stunning it would send him irrevocably on the road to manhood...

REVIEW:

Let me in one word get it straight up on point that this book is tragic.

This is my first Nicholas sparks book read oddly and it is so because i was always sceptical about me liking her books after i watched the Notebook movie which i didn't really enjoy as much though there is a huge amount of hype going around that book and movie.

However i was book browsing and i came across this book and though the title is real cheesy , i somehow strangely craved for some cheesy book to read when i am snug and tucked with my duvet since now the weather seems to finally seem pleasant here.

So i started reading the book and well I LIKED IT!!!
YEAH!!!

So the story basically circles two main characters
1. Landon carter
2. Jamie Sullivan

Landon is the rich guy from a happening section of class and Jamie is the duff , the quiet one.
It is the story of how their differences make way to something Landon would have never thought.
Love as they say can come from the most unexpected places and people.

I halfway figured what the ending would be like but when i reached the ending part it was as heart wrenching as it would have been if i wouldn't have guessed or figured out what the ending would have been like.
That is how well written this book is.

The story is very simple and the writing is easy and it is a perfect holiday read.
Though the book was a fountain full of emotions yet the characters were humorous and it made the book a great read rather than a punishment.
OK,Saying more about the story would take away the jest of it.

As much as i love happy endings and loathe sad endings i couldn't help but give it a 5 star rating because it deserved it.
Overall a lovely read.

★★★

“There are moments when I wish I could roll back the clock and take all the sadness away, but I have the feeling that if I did, the joy would be gone as well.”

STOLEN - LUCY CHRISTOPHER

TITLE: STOLEN
AUTHOR: LUCY CHRISTOPHER
SERIES: STANDALONE
RATING:★★★

SUMMARY:

It happened like this. I was stolen from an airport. Taken from everything I knew, everything I was used to. Taken to sand and heat, dirt and danger. And he expected me to love him.

This is my story.

A letter from nowhere.

Sixteen year old Gemma is kidnapped from Bangkok airport and taken to the Australian Outback. This wild and desolate landscape becomes almost a character in the book, so vividly is it described. Ty, her captor, is no stereotype. He is young, fit and completely gorgeous. This new life in the wilderness has been years in the planning. He loves only her, wants only her. Under the hot glare of the Australian sun, cut off from the world outside, can the force of his love make Gemma love him back?

The story takes the form of a letter, written by Gemma to Ty, reflecting on those strange and disturbing months in the outback. Months when the lines between love and obsession, and love and dependency, blur until they don't exist - almost.

REVIEW:

Where do i even start with a review of a book like this.
OK..i just finished this book and i need to calm down and stop trying to figure out what happens after that.

Well there are two main characters
1. Gemma
2. TY

Gemma is a 16 year old girl who is drugged and kidnapped by Ty from a coffee shop in an airport and transported to Australia's  desert land.

“Those blue, blue eyes, icy
blue, looking back at me as if I could
warm them up. They’re
pretty powerful, you know, those eyes, pretty beautiful, too.”

The book was dark from the very beginning, right from the moment Gemma felt Ty looking intently towards her. What you least expect is the guy you found hot and with whom you have coffee at one moment to suddenly have drugged you and steal you from your world right after.

It was insane, i had an instant hatred or rather dislike towards Ty , after all he was a kidnapper. However he was not like a typical kidnapper and never raised his hands on her..no no never ever
Later you come to know that he had been stalking her for the last 10 years.

He keeps her in a house he built in a desert , a desert which is miles away and not even printed in the map. I cannot imagine what Gemma must be going through to wake up and find find herself in this strange land where all you see are huge stretches of sand and scrubs.

As much as i wanted to not like Ty , because i predicted that Gemma would obviously later on fall in love with him, but the author really brought me to like or rather sympathize with his character. His back story and his past life really makes you pity him and understand why he is the way he is now.
Gemma too got that too, maybe Ty's ways were not correct but he wasn't a bad person.

“How long will you keep me?" I asked.
You shrugged. "Forever, of course.”

What i liked was how Gemma didn't give up fighting for her Freedom, now i wouldn't expect anyone to be kidnapped today and fall in love with the kidnapper the next day. that behaviour is not normal and it would have sucked bad if the story went along that line. Gemma was a real character and she was a strong one too.

Gemma fought hard but later on even she was curious about his life and started to like him and care and feel about him.
Ty really loved her too, i wouldn't give out on how i could come to such a huge conclusion but along the story whatever you get to know about him and all the things he did for Gemma and most importantly whatever he did for her at the end proved that though his ways may have been a bit crooked but his love for Gemma is real a 100%

“And it's hard to hate someone once you understand them.”

I weirdly could feel a lot of things Gemma was portraying or trying to say as because of the way this story is written. It is beautifully written and each character was shown in full clarity and it was precise, i wasn't at all confused by any section along the story. The world building was so strong that it made me want to go stay in the desert , name roosters as dick and ride on camels. (PS- read the book and you would know why i am referring roosters and camels )

Whether or not Gemma got the Stockholm syndrome, i sure did have it after reading this book.
Stockholm syndrome is basically when the victim starts to like or love the kidnapper.
I hope that Lucy comes out with a sequel as i really want to know the after story on what happens to Gemma and Ty.

I think everyone would love this book.

★★★
And let’s face it, you did steal me. But you saved my life too. And somewhere in the middle, you showed me a place so different and beautiful, I can never get it out of my mind. And I can’t get you out of there either. You’re stuck in my brain like my own blood vessels

ACHE-NE not ACNE

ACNE & ME - When Puberty Kicked In

ACHE-NE, this is how i would describe what and how it feels to experience the ruthless journey of acne and pimples.
This is not a story but an experience most girls and women face from the early teens when there is a huge hormonal change in the process and not everyone is blessed with a good and clear skin.

When puberty kicked in with it came a lot of changes and of course then came the monthly bump of pimple near my chin and a frequent visitor peeking out in my forehead. This visitors didn't make me happy and instead brought alienation and made me feel less confident about myself.
I remember my cousin saying ' oh my god, don't you wash your face'? And i felt like shit that day, and people sometimes don't know how it feels to deal with acne and pimples.

Acne hits a person ,man or women so bad that i have seen some friends and family who suffer from acne to not socialize and they do not come for parties and they do not at all click any Selfie or Group pictures and it is all because of their lost self confidence.

I always hosted assemblies in schools and suddenly when i was up in the stage i felt disorientated as if everyone is not looking at me but my ugly face and that is when it hit me the most that i have lost my self esteem.

With not much access to internet that time i didn't know any of those home remedy or DIY that now kids and girls of my age do.
I slowly though started using products solely for acne prone skin like the Garnier Neem face wash and it started working but not without me working extra and taking care of my hygiene for it. I started eating less oily food and more healthy food and i cut down on dairy big time, for example i stopped having cheese. Cheese was a major reason on why i got those horrible breakouts which i later came to know and i stopped having that and slowly i  got my skin put all together.

We Women are always conscious of how we look and we take pride in looking our best and being the best we can and that is when we get the confidence to socially mingle with friends and family and even it helps in our career , because a strong personality is a women's most priced possession.

Right products are really helpful to tame down those bumps and neem is one of them, neem products have antibacterial properties which is a tough master to those acne and it will work in treating and soothing your skin.

The neem property in this face wash new avatar of Garnier is the -GARNIER PURE ACTIVE NEEM. This would help in taming those bumps and it would remove those extra sebum in your skin to wash out and give a clean face. Tea tree is excellent for acne and what better then kill two birds with one stone because this time this face wash has even green tree oil extract. It cant get better guys. I would recommend that after using this Garnier Face wash , you should follow it up with a toner and then a moisturizer for your particular skin type.
