TITLE: Mrs Funnybones
AUTHOR: Twinkle Khanna
SERIES: STANDALONE
RATING: ★★★
SUMMARY:
Good morning, it’s 6 a.m. and I am wide awake because the man of the house has decided that he needs to perform a series of complex manoeuvres that involve him balancing on his left elbow. When I fell asleep last night, there was a baby lying next to me. Her smelly diaper is still wedged on my head but aside from this rather damp clue, I can't seem to find her anywhere. I could ask my mother-in-law if she has seen the baby, but she may just tell me that I need to fast on alternate Mondays, and God will deliver the baby back to me . . . Full of wit and delicious observations, Mrs Funnybones captures the life of the modern Indian woman—a woman who organizes dinner each evening, even as she goes to work all day, who runs her own life but has to listen to her Mummyji, who worries about her weight and the state of the country. Based on Twinkle Khanna’s super-hit column, Mrs Funnybones marks the debut of one of our funniest, most original voices.

REVIEW:
Twinkle Khanna is the writer of this book- yes the same actress in that 90s movie MELA !! Twinkle Khanna as everyone knows is a former actress, born to famous parents, wife of Akshay Kumar and currently an interior designer and now also a writer.
This book had many people intrigued, because lets be staunch and admit that we are all very curious about the scoops of the life of celebrities, yet this book has so much more to offer than just a keyhole insight to the world of the the film industry or the have-it-all people.
Twinkle Khanna’s book is far from being an autobiography, it is written in a very blog like format, now her writing approach may or may not appeal to a lot of people according to their personal preference.
Me personally i liked it, i liked her use of witty and humorous anecdotes and her whimsy and wisecrack nature.
Now i am far from feeling connected to her through her writing in ways like i don’t have a sea facing apartment nor do i have Akshay Kumar as a drop dead husband ( well i don’t actually have a husband at all at this moment)
However you can still feel connected by the different characters she propagated , like the imbecilic and half witted domestic help , her lethargic staffs, also she talks about her mother in law and about her ‘Punjabi Characteristics’ which were pretty on point and funny.
She refers to her husband as the ‘man of the house’ and her son as ’the prodigal son’ and these really make the characters real life like and the coversations with them makes the read more comical and light hearted.
Mrs Funnybones for sure is a very light read and will have you in grins and it is a very fast read too, so be assured you would finish the book in a day or two even for the drowsy reader.
For the negatives , well repetition of some words like the word BLIMEY! many a times didn’t make anything seem any more funny, and do i think this book would have such a good sell if not written by Twinkle Khanna - NO! Sometimes you may also feel the ego of the writer in her writing style but that also is the beauty of this book , it is not made up and not full of crappy writing but is an authentic piece because it shows you the true Twinkle Khanna
I enjoyed the read , as its not just a book about a celebrity nor an autobiography about their filmy achievements nor her lavish life but it is about a real person with real life which comes with both grins and cries and problems
FUNNY. LIGHT-HEARTED.SILLY is how i would like to put this book review as.
